Our Timeless God

Our Timeless God

No matter how far back in time we go, there is God. And no matter how far into the future we look, God is there as well.

Of God Moses said, “Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.” (Psalm 90:2b)

Before time began there was God, and before anything was created, there was God. God is before and after all things, because God is outside time, space, and matter.

God has no past, and He has no future, He is by definition both past and future, not to mention present. This is brought out in the song of praise that has been and will continue to be sung for all eternity by the four living creatures before God’s throne.

“Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty. Who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:8)

And so God dwells in all eternity, and eternity dwells in God. He has already lived in all of our yesterdays, and has already lived in all of our tomorrows, and here is the really neat part, but one that takes faith to believe: He has lived before time began and after time has ceased all at the same time.

This is why He can reveal the end from the beginning.

“For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me. Declaring the end from the beginning. And from ancient times things that are not yet done.” (Isaiah 46:9-10a)

And so the Lord God is as He is described: the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

“I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” (Revelation 22:13)

Time is irrelevant to God, because God is outside of it.

God knows all things. He knows where we’ve been and He knows where we are going, therefore as such He knows what is best for our present.

Therefore we can trust God with whatever time we have left.
