Procuring God’s Wisdom
We are told in Proverbs to get both wisdom and understanding.
Solomon said, “Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth … Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.” (Proverbs 4:5-7)
Getting wisdom is then the key, the principle thing, and Solomon wants to make sure we understand that we are to get wisdom at whatever the cost.
“Buy the truth, and do not sell it, also wisdom and instruction and understanding.” (Proverbs 23:23)
Yet in all our “getting,” have we truly taken the time and expense to secure God’s wisdom?
There is a difference.
Speaking of the wisdom of man verses the wisdom of God, the Apostle James said that human wisdom is earthly, sensual, and demonic, that is, it’s from Satan not God. Satan is the one who controls it, James 3:15-16.
But the wisdom of God, James says, “is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.” (James 3:17)
So how do we get God’s wisdom to handle the affairs and matters that affect our everyday lives? We don’t have to pay huge sums of money; rather all we need to do is to ask God for it.
“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” (James 1:5)
But in our requests, let’s not doubt God ability or desire to give it.
The Apostle James says, “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” (James 1:6-8 NKJV)
Today pray and start securing the wisdom of God for what lies ahead.
