God’s Power for our Present Need

The men of Issachar understood the times and knew what to do (1 Chronicles 12:32). It’s this same understanding and knowledge that we all need in order to navigate this evil world we live in.
There’s never been a time like this. Disease and famine are on the increase, people are facing both financial and moral crises, and everyone is become disillusioned and are despairing of life itself.
People are desperate to find some sort of breakthrough as they’re being overwhelmed by life and are ready to quit.
Platitudes do little to help. Statements like, “Hang in there,” and “Keep on keeping on,” do little if anything to help. More is needed than a mere pep talk or rally. What’s needed is the power of the Holy Spirit on full display. It’s allowing the Holy Spirit to work His incredible power within us to make a difference, and Him not just being some theological teaching.
The Apostle Paul said, “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance … And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6 NKNV)
Christians were facing great affliction, but instead of being anxious or worried they gave it all over to the Holy Spirit who filled them with the power to overcome, which was evidenced by their joy.
The Holy Spirit is living within every believer, 1 Corinthians 6:19. The Lord has given the Holy Spirit to empower us to be witnesses for Christ and to make a difference in our families, workplace, communities, and in the world, Acts 1:8.
It’s through the power of the Holy Spirit that we learn not only what’s going on around us and the knowledge of what to do, but also the power to overcome and have victory over this present evil age.
