When Satan Attacks

When we’re not where we’re suppose to be, doing what we’re supposed to be doing, that is when we’re the most vulnerable to Satan’s attacks.

“It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold.” (2 Samuel 11:1-2)

And so the David and Bathsheba saga began, she became pregnant, David had her husband murdered, war now was a permanent part of King David’s legacy, and the child born of this affair died.

“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.” (James 1:13-16)

David was tempted because he wasn’t where he belonged, not doing what he was supposed to do.

This was the time when “kings go out to battle.” King David was supposed to be with his men at the battlefront, not in the comforts and pleasures of his home in the city. It was then he was tempted; it was then he sinned, and that sin brought forth death.

I find when I’m not doing what I’m suppose to be doing, when I’m not in the word, in prayer, and worshiping the Lord, that’s when Satan brings in his temptations, and since I’m now at my weakest, I’m more prone to act out on the temptation and sin.
