Today’s 333 Devotional: “A Journey of Faith”
What would prompt someone to leave the comfort of home to go on a dangerous journey? Romance? Maybe. Wealth? Definitely. But faith; yes faith!
Such was the journey of the Magi, the Wisemen. When they arrived in Jerusalem after taking the arduous journey they said, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” (Matthew 2:2)
There was no doubt in their minds the Messiah had been born. They had seen the star, the evidence was real, so where is the King of the Jews who had been born.
They had faith that He was alive, that He existed, and now all they needed to do was to find Him and worship Him. They were willing to risk it all, even their lives in this journey to find Him.
God’s Journeys Always Involve Faith
The Bible tells us that it’s impossible to please God apart from faith, because we must believe that God is real, and care enough to seek Him out by faith.
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” (Hebrews 11:6)
People of faith have been willing to respond to the challenges of the unknown repeatedly down throughout the church’s history.
One day William Carey heard that millions of people in India had never heard the Good News of Jesus Christ. He believed in God’s word and the Great Commission, and for seven years he worked without seeing a single convert. But by the end of his life, he saw hundreds of churches built and thousands of converts.
Will we be this wise and let God lead us this Christmas? Each of us have been given a mission in life, will we follow by faith? Will we be wise men and women?
