Build a Foundation of Faith

Build a Foundation of Faith

In the Christmas story there are several people whose life principles can help us live faithful lives.

From Mary’s example we see a life principle of building our lives on the foundation of faith.

The angel Gabriel said, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.” (Luke 1:30-32 NKJV)

Mary replied that such a thing was impossible; she was still, and planned to remain a virgin until marriage. But Gabriel said that nothing was impossible with God.

“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35 NKJV)

Instead of arguing or denying that such a thing could happen, Mary had built her life on faith in God, and she replied, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:38 NKJV)

It was upon this faith that God was able to use this young women to bring forth His greatest miracle.

In a world that is going to hell, we all need to build our faith upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ. And when we do, God will be able to use us to do some pretty incredible things.

Jesus said, “He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.” (Luke 6:48 NKJV)

Let this be our prayer today, “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand.”
