Check It Out

Check It Out

The first time David tried to bring the Ark of the Covenant to Jerusalem, it didn’t go too well. A man lost his life, and that’s because David tried, “Ark on a Cart,” methodology. The problem was it wasn’t the way prescribed by God.

With his failure, David left the Ark in the household of Obed-Edom who lived close by. And for the next three months it would seem that David hit to books to find out why (1 Chronicles 13:14).

It would seem that David went to God’s word as is seen later on.

“Then David said, “No one may carry the ark of God but the Levites, for the Lord has chosen them to carry the ark of God and to minister before Him forever.” (1 Chronicles 15:2)

This reality could only be found in the Scriptures as found in Deuteronomy 10:8.

“At that time the Lord separated the tribe of Levi to bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, to stand before the Lord to minister to Him and to bless in His name, to this day.”

Before we move forward, even though it may seem like the right thing to do, we need to check it out by the Scriptures.

The Psalmist said, “Your (God’s) word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” (Psalm 119:105)

The writer of Hebrews said, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12)

God’s word divides truth from error, and shows us the true intent of our hearts.

The Apostle James says that such wisdom that comes from above is pure, filled with peace, gentle, full of mercy and good fruit (James 3:17)

So, before we move forward or make a decision, check it out with God’s word first.
