Christ’s Letter to the World
God sends to this world personal letters of His love. But these letters aren’t written with ink; rather they are living, breathing, flesh and blood letters, and living messages.
These letters are you and I.
This was the Apostle Paul conclusion in his second letter to the Corinthian Church.
“You are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read by all men; clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.” (2 Corinthians 3:2-3 NKJV)
Paul is saying that we are the visible expression of Jesus Christ to this lost and dying world. Paul is saying that we are called to make Jesus known and understood; not only by the words we speak, but also by the lives we lead.
Paul goes on to say. “Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:1-2 NKJV)
Paul knew that people would understand God’s word, and that’s because they themselves are natural, while God’s word is spiritual, 1 Corinthians 2:14.
And so God sends out living, breathing, and walking letters of His love, you and I.
The power for us to be such examples, however, is through the Holy Spirit.
Just as the Holy Spirit moved upon those who wrote these words, 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21, so then the Holy Spirit empowers us to be Jesus’ love letters to the world, 1 Corinthians 6:19.
So what kind of letter are you? When others, including your children and grandchildren, read your mail, are they seeing a shining manifestation of Jesus, or someone else?
