Don’t Compromise God’s Promises

Make No Compromises With God’s Promises

God promised not only to deliver Israel from their Egyptian bondage, but also to deliver them into the Promised Land, His promise for them.

“For I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand, and you shall drive them out before you.” (Exodus 32:31b)

This wasn’t, however, going to be a cakewalk, but God promised, and what God has promised He will fulfill.

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19)

God wanted to make sure, however, that they wouldn’t compromise His promised deliverance by honoring and making agreements with those outside the faith lest His people sin and turn away from Him.

“You shall make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. They shall not dwell in your land, lest they make you sin against Me. For if you serve their gods, it will surely be a snare to you.” (Exodus 23: 32-33)

Nehemiah instinctively understood this. When faced with the daunting task of rebuilding the wall, something promised by God but that seemed impossible in human terms, they began the rebuilding process. But soon they meet with resistance from the other inhabitants of the land; those who didn’t believer and who were opposed to the faith.

But Nehemiah wouldn’t compromise and answered,

“The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or memorial in Jerusalem.” (Nehemiah 2:20)

Whatever God has promised, move into by with faith believing God for the impossible. But don’t compromise your faith or God’s word in doing so. While it may seem easier to work with those of other faiths to get the job done, we must not compromise God’s promise or His word to do so.

Remember, the things that are impossible with men are possible with God.
