Faith Feeding
One of the great things about reading God’s word is that it feeds our faith.
The Apostle Paul said,
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)
Jesus said, “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:7)
It’s through the Holy Spirit that we hear God’s word, and the Bible is one way the Holy Spirit speaks to us, as He is the one who moved in the hearts of those who wrote down the words.
“No prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.” (2 Peter 1:16-21)
Jesus said that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth, and all of God’s word is truth (John 16:13; 17:17). Therefore it’s through the Holy Spirit opening the truth of God’s word that we have unlimited access to the unlimited wealth of God’s wisdom.
But this goes beyond just knowing God can speak to us; it knows God will. That is faith. Faith doesn’t know that God can do something; it knows that He will do it.
The Apostle Peter said that we are to add to our faith knowledge, not the other way around. (2 Peter 1:5)
Faith is then the muscle that helps us live our lives to their fullest. But for that muscle to work we must feed it, and its food is God’s word. Jesus said it best when confronting Satan’s temptation: “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
Faith is the currency by which we secure God’s heavenly wisdom, as the Lord tells us to come and buy truth, wisdom, instruction and insight without money.
So let’s feed our faith today by letting the Holy Spirit feed our soul and spirit through His word.
