Let the Fire Fall

The fire of God falls when our prayers are set on fire.

The golden altar of incense was where the priests burned incense as a pleasing aroma to the Lord. They would set fire to the incense symbolizing the prayers of the people and the aroma would go up before God.

We see this in the book of Revelation.

“Then another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God from the angel’s hand.” (Revelation 8:3-4)

When our prayers are set on fire through the Holy Spirit; that is when God sends His fire down.

We see this when Elijah challenged the prophets of Baal to a duel to show who worshipped the real God. While the prophets of Baal did everything in their own power to bring fire down, nothing happened. But Elijah prayed under God’s anointing and the fire descended (1 Kings 18).

When our prayers ascend through Holy Spirit fire, then the fire of God descends.

The problem with today’s church is that the prayer altar is either burning low or is out. And that’s because we’re trying to complete in the flesh what was initially begun in the Spirit (Galatian 3:3).

When the church began it was through prayer, and in response God sent down the fire of the Holy Spirit.

“Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:3-4a)

This was what John the Baptist described saying of Jesus, “He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matthew 3:11b)

So let’s set our prayers on fire through the anointing of the Holy Spirit and see the fire of God fall.
