No Resurrection, No Salvation

No Resurrection, No Salvation

“For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:10).

God reconciled us, not only through His death, but also through His life.

The word “reconciled” means primarily to exchange. Therefore, the Apostle Paul was saying that it was through the blood that Jesus shed upon the cross that we were changed from being hostile enemies to God to having a relationship of peace with God.

But if that is all, then our reconciliation was not fully secured. There needed to be more, and Paul makes that clear saying “much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.”

While it was the blood that Jesus shed for the forgiveness of our sins, “And without shedding of blood there is no remission” (Hebrews 9:22a), without the resurrection it would have all been in vain.

“If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (1 Corinthians 15:17-20).

Because Jesus rose from the dead, we can be saved and spend our eternity with God in heaven, and that’s because He forever lives to make intercession with the Father for us.

“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them” (Hebrews 7:25).

Therefore, while we have been reconciled by faith through Jesus’s death, how much more have we been made right with God, that is, saved through the life He now possesses?
