Who’s Pursuing Who

Who’s Pursuing Who

Remember how fun it was playing “Tag, you’re it?” The game, however, has serious ramifications when it comes to our relationship with God, and that’s because God’s it and you need to let yourself get caught.

While we think we’re pursuing God, the truth is that God is pursuing us, and He’s pursuing us hard.

This was evident in the beginning. After Adam and Eve sinned in the garden, they played the modern day version of the child’s game, “Hide and Seek.” They were hiding and God was seeking.

“Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, ‘Where are you?’” (Genesis 3:9 NKJV)

And the Lord has been pursuing humanity ever since.

Unfortunately we’ve got this all turned around. Humanity has been searching for God ever since the Garden. Yet, while people say their looking for God, putting on a good show, instead they’re actually searching for a god of their own making and not the Lord God of the Bible.

The Lord said, “These people draw near with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts far from Me, and their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men.” (Isaiah 29:13 NKJV; cf. Matthew 15:8)

It’s time we quit running from God by pursuing him through religion, philosophies, rules, regulations, or traditions. It’s time we allow God to catch us saying, “Lord, here am I.”

This has always been the way.

Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:44 NKJV)

“All those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and live with them.” (John 14:23 NKJV)

God’s “It,” so don’t you think it’s time to stop playing “Hide and Seek” with God and let yourself be found. Don’t you think it’s time to let God “Tag” you.
